The credit system is something MT has put up so that people can download stuff only if they contribute to the comunity too.. here's a better explanation:

Finally, in order to prevent abuse of the system, the exact formulae for gaining and spending credits will not be disclosed.

That's correct, you can't download a lot in a day. You're free to download 5 itens for day, and if you still want more, you'll have to spend your credits~
But if you wait 24h, the free download quote fills itself again.
Oh, and if you do want to downlaod lots of pictures in one day, you can... just make sure you have credits enough before that~ >w<''
